A Weekend in Melbourne

Would you believe me if I said before this year, I'd never traveled to Melbourne before? We spent just three days in Vic's capital, and I absolutely fell in love with the city.

J's brother got married in the incredibly picturesque Montsalvat; an artist colony set amongst rich gardens and old European-style buildings. The food was a proper feast, and the tone of the evening was set with a jazz band. We're so thrilled for the couple, and so happy we were able to celebrate with them.

The next morning we had brunch at Vue de Monde - amazing food and being in the second tallest building in Melbourne, we were witness to an awesome view.

We spent Sunday exploring the city and partaking in a river cruise on the Yarra.

I truly fell in love with Melbourne in my short time there, and cannot wait to re-visit the city to do some more exploring.

Week in Pictures #67

Gorgeous decorations and delicious strawberry cake at a friend's engagement party last weekend - I feel like I have so many engagement parties and weddings going on in my life right now and it makes me so happy to see my friends so happy and with the loves of their lives! (Although it is a bit expensive for me ha ha)

And speaking of true love - on Saturday J and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary!
We had such an amazing day visiting the Aquarium, and the Sydney Wildlife Park before heading out to dinner at Onyx in Newtown.

So many cute animals - blows my mind that we have a little zoo right in the heart of the city! The quokkas and the wombat were probably my favourite.

So much good food - burgers for lunch from Grill'd;
we dined at Onyx at Newtown; the deep-fried brie was easily the best dish. We also got the chicken quesadillas, and the pulled pork main to share. Our order got screwed up by the manager so we also got some free chicken croquettes, hurrah!

Apple ciders in glasses and finishing the night off with drippy gelato - best!

My Week in Pictures #49

I've spent a lot of the past week poring over text books, and rush-finishing assignments. Rommy has kept me company through it all. I've also started reading the Secret Garden. I loved this film when I was a kid, and it's great to now revisit it as an adult.

I took these photos on my walk over to my Dad's place. There's two different ways for me to get to his on foot, and both of them have pretty things to look at.

J found the laser pointer we bought in Bali, and Rommy had a great deal of fun with it. The multiple lights confused the hell out of him, and had us in hysterics.

I've been obsessed with this lip colour - Shameless from the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm range.

Wasn't sure if I could actually pull of purple, but I really love it. Must be my inner goth again.

My Week in Pictures #47

Bit of a quiet one this week...

On Monday I had to go into the city for work, and walking through Hyde Park was such a treat. The weather was absolutely stunning, and the sky was such a bright blue. This put me in such a good mood for the rest of the afternoon.

I've been dedicating a lot of practice time to the Jade split lately, even though I'm so far away from my splits on the ground. I think it's really paying off. I'm far from completely flat, but check out this picture for how far I've come. This thrills me to bits because I have absolutely no patience, especially when it comes to stretching. Progress shots like this make it so worth it.

Back at uni, and hence, back to studying on trains.
J and I had a 'date night' on Saturday, and went to see Wolf of Wall Street at George St Cinemas.
I absolutely loved, loved, loved the film. Cannot sing its praises loud enough. Although, it was so intense, and had me on the edge of my seat for the whole film that I found the ending a bit of a let down. I've downloaded the ebook now, which will be interesting because I've only heard bad things about it.

Found this little guy sucking up juices from the flowers on our basil plant and I just had to photograph him.

Happy New Year!

Hello, hello 2014!!

My oh my how the years fly by.
2013 was a good year. Nothing bad, but nothing great either.

I'm excited for everything 2014 has to offer.
This is the year that I graduate from my double degree at uni.
I am so, so ready for this.

I'm hoping I can travel at the end of the year, with my bestie, Meg.
I want to continue making my house a home, with J.
I want to give uni one last push, and give it my all.
I want to continue challenging myself at pole, and being the best person I can be, physically.

And just generally, be a better version of myself in all aspects of my life.

I don't really have any major resolutions.
I do have some goals though.
I spent some time this afternoon coming up with some blog goals too. This year will be a good one for the blog, too. I'm going to get my butt into gear, stop making excuses and just do it.
Just do the things I want to do, and the things I say I'll do.

I spent New Years Eve at my dad's, with my family. He has a view of Botany Bay from his backyard, and there was a spectacular 9pm fireworks show. All the photos from this post were taken last night.
And my favourite photo of the night...

What did you get up to this NYE? Did you make resolutions for 2014?

N.B: I'm taking a bit of a break over the next few days from the blog. I'll be back, posting regularly on the 6th January! xx
