A Weekend in Melbourne

Would you believe me if I said before this year, I'd never traveled to Melbourne before? We spent just three days in Vic's capital, and I absolutely fell in love with the city. 

J's brother got married in the incredibly picturesque Montsalvat; an artist colony set amongst rich gardens and old European-style buildings. The food was a proper feast, and the tone of the evening was set with a jazz band. We're so thrilled for the couple, and so happy we were able to celebrate with them. 

The next morning we had brunch at Vue de Monde - amazing food and being in the second tallest building in Melbourne, we were witness to an awesome view. 

We spent Sunday exploring the city and partaking in a river cruise on the Yarra. 

I truly fell in love with Melbourne in my short time there, and cannot wait to re-visit the city to do some more exploring.

Lately, in Pictures #78

It's been a while since I've written one of these posts - this past month has just flown by, and I haven't really been up to much that's worth taking a photo of.

At the beginning of the month, I started parkour training and have since learned how to jump, vault, slide, and roll my way around obstacles. It's so much fun, I feel like such a big kid and the Sydney parkour community is awesome.

I'm sad that the jacaranda trees have stopped flowering. The best thing about my morning commute was getting to stand amongst the discarded purple flowers that lay strewn across the platform. I have not been enjoying the weather these past few weeks. From 40 celsius to 19 celsius, to rain, sun, hail and everything in between, I'm never sure what to wear to work anymore. 

I made Vietnamese rice paper rolls for dinner a few weeks back, and haven't been able to stop thinking about them since. So filling, so tasty and so healthy - one of my favourite meals in spring/summer.

OOTD: Leather and Stripes

I was in the market recently for some new jeans. I decided I wanted black skinnys with ripped knees, but couldn't find any that I liked. I asked for recommendations on Twitter, and was advised to check out Topshop. 

I'm so glad I did because these jeans are the best - they are super comfy, with in-build stretchy material, they're high-waisted, they're everything I was looking for. The sales assistant advised me to go down a size, because apparently they stretch a lot, but I'm glad I didn't and stuck to what felt the most comfortable.

OOTD: Monochrome

This is one of my favourite outfits. It's surprisingly comfortable, and the black-and-white monochrome is a little bit badass. 

I saw these pants a few years ago and just had to buy them. They are really stretchy so I went a size smaller than I would.

OOTN: Baby, I Got the Blues

Last weekend I had the perfect occasion to wear my gorgeous new cobalt blue skirt from Popbasic.
Although it was a really fun night, it was a sad occasion, as it marked the farewell of one of my good friends who is leaving us for Europe indefinitely.

The length of this skirt is perfect on me, hitting just above the ankles. It's sits high on my waist, so I paired it with one of my favourite crops. I really love this combo - the bright blue contrasted with the black and white pattern just work really well together.

I also thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear my new HFB Interwoven clutch. I think the laser-cut pattern on the clutch works really well with the pattern of my shirt. And to tie it all together, I wore my new black flats with gold-bow detailing from River Island.

OOTD: Exam Wear

After four years of exams, I've finally learnt my lesson: the Sports Hub at Wollongong Uni is freezing, and it's a lot easier to concentrate if you're over-dressed than under.

I picked up this trench coat a few months ago on sale from Portmans. It's a lot warmer than I expected it to be, and it has quickly become one of my wardrobe staples this winter. 

My tights are from Zara. I love them, but the quality isn't that great. The first pair I bought had a split seam in the inner thigh. I took those back and returned them, which was fine, but the seam then split on the waistband, so I had to stitch them up by hand. Other than that, the material is thick, and they have a high waistband, which is flattering on everyone.

My top is from Sportsgirl, it's a lightweight jumper, and is great for layering.

Outfit of the Day: Winter is Coming

So, my last outfit post was all about how happy I was that it wasn't even feeling like Winter. This week has been freeeezing. The coats and scarves have come out of hibernation. Winter is not just coming, my friends. Winter is pretty much here already. 

Still obsessed with  my Black Milk Drogon Game of Thrones leggings. 

Kind of want to also buy the green pair, just so that people see me wearing something different. 

I'm so chuffed that I finally get to wear this cute cat scarf that J got me for Christmas last year. 

I just think it's so damn adorable, and the black and grey goes with my entire winter wardrobe (which, let's be honest is mostly black)

My Week in Pictures #50

I am counting down the days until my next pole performance, and trying to squeeze in as much practice as possible in between class and going to the gym. I've started putting together my routine, and practicing the moves I definitely want to include. I have 5 weeks until performance day, and a lot of practice to be done between now and then! 

Wearing a lot of curls in my hair lately, courtesy of my hair curler. Watch this space, because I'll be having a review up later this week! 

Picked up this crop on sale last week. I am in loveee with it and kind of sad I discovered it as we're heading into winter. For more details check out this post. 

In probably the most exciting news this week, I got accepted into ANU's GDLP course. To be admitted as a lawyer in New South Wales, not only do you need to undertake a Bachelor of Laws, but you also need a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. This is the 'practical' aspect of the qualification, and I'm so freaking excited I get to complete mine whilst finishing off the rest of my BA / LLB. Which means (if all goes to plan) I will have completed all the necessary qualifications to be admitted as a lawyer by the end of this year. 

Crazy!!! 

Catching up on Game of Thrones on the way to a meeting after work on Tuesday. The hour long journey between Miranda and Bondi Junction is the perfect length for a GoT episode.
