My Week in Pictures #45

I started off my week with a pole workshop with Evgeny Greshilov - an amazing Russian pole dancer with incredible strength. The workshop was heaps of fun and I learnt lots of new tricks to work on.

Rommy's been such a little cutie, with his newest toy...a large cardboard box. He's even taken to sleeping it, which is adorable.

Enjoying the last of my holiday break with a Shandy and some Assassin's Creed.

Uni goes back this week, so I'm trying to get a head start with my readings. A little Boston Legal playing in the background makes me less depressed that holidays are well and truly over.

One of the girls from work got an amazing job in the career she wants to go into, so sadly for us will no longer be working with us. We headed out to Darling Harbour for farewell drinks. A big jug of sangria is always a good way to celebrate. Darling Harbour was all done up for Mardi Gras. Did anyone attend the parade this year? Sadly I missed it!

I did however catch up with Adeline from Through Beauty Eyes at the pre-mardi gras catwalk show at the Australasian College Broadway, which was a lot of fun!

And probably, the biggest news of the week; I've been interning at a law firm since January as part of my degree, and on Monday I was offered a paid position! Which is just so incredible! I get to finish off my internship being paid, and then I get to stay on afterwards, continuing to get experience in an actual firm setting. I've loved working there so far, the people I work with are all so lovely and helpful, and I'm so happy I get to keep working there.

Origrami Instagram Prints!

A couple of weeks ago I did a Google search for where I could get instagram prints, relatively cheap. Taking shipping costs into account, the most economical website for me to get them from was Origrami. What sealed the deal for me was that they're also a Sydney-based company. I love taking the opportunity to support local peeps so this worked well for me. I was also super impressed that they had so many different options for printing your instagram photos. In the end though, I decided to go with the standard 4" x 4" "squareprint".

The hardest part about the whole process was choosing only 36 photos to be printed. After painstakingly deciding, I proceeded to payment and in less than ten days my prints arrived. YAY!

Of course, I had some ideas about what I was going to do with the prints. However once they arrived, I had the idea of turning the area next to my desk into a feature wall. I 'gridded' out the area with masking tape to make sure each photo was individually spaced and then stuck them down with blu-tac.

I seriously could not be happier with how they turned out. The quality of the photos is awesome. They're printed on a matte card, so they don't get fingerprints and are quite sturdy.

Instagram is probably my favourite app on my phone, and I love that I can now easily transcend it to "real life" and have my photos as a feature in my home. The wall that I've stuck the photos on is directly opposite to our front door, so it's the first thing I see when I come home. And honestly, that just makes me so happy. There's not a lot you can do to personalise your home when you're renting, and this is a quick, cheap and non-damaging way to do that.

I will absolutely be ordering some more prints, and my next order may be a different size! I just love these so, so much.

My Week in Pictures #34

This week has been a bit full on! I headed back to uni, for the second semester of my penultimate year (it's getting way too real now...!) I'm so thankful I only had to buy two textbooks this year, bringing the bill to just over $300, instead of the usual $600. The UOW Law Society ordered some cute hoodies in, and being quite partial to a hoodie myself, had to snatch one up.
I didn't get much of a holiday break this year...we moved house, which is always a stressful experience, and I worked heaps. I went back to uni this week working full time...am glad to go back down to my regular 22 hours now! Despite heading back feeling unrefreshed and still kinda stressed, I'm really excited for my subjects. I'm taking Evidence (which, admittedly is actually kinda dry), IP law, and Power and the Modern State. I think it's so much easier to do well at subjects you enjoy.

I've been obsessssssed with berry lips this week, with this Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet being on my lips at all times.
I also picked myself up a really cute goose charm for my Thomas Sabo bracelet...really disappointed to notice last night though that his beak is no longer orange??

I spent Saturday night in Newtown, celebrating a friend's birthday. We had dinner and drinks, then headed over to the Marly Bar for a quick drink before heading home. Surprisingly, Mike Whitney's band (who knew!?) was playing. They did a heap of fun covers, and I may or may not have been called up on stage to sing Teenage Dirtbag. I also may or may not have been quite drunk.

What did you get up to this past week? Any fun celebrity stories I should know?

My Week in Pictures #34

It's been a busy week for me lately!

Today is my 21st birthday, which is INSANE. I also had my party on Saturday, which was a lot of fun. To add to the crazy, I've been working full time this week and next, and next week I go back to uni! I feel like I've hardly had a holiday to be honest!

I've got so many things planned for this little bloggy, and so many posts lined up, and just on the down low...maybe a giveaway too! I've just struggled a bit lately because I'm out of the house for most days about 11 hours. The sun sets before 5pm here, and I don't usually get home until at least 8pm. So stubborn me hates taking photographs in artificial light but I'm thinking I need to just get over that and get on with it. What do you think?

Mum came down from Queensland for my party and brought me and my sister these cute animal beanies.

They have little pockets for your hands too! Super cute!

J made me karage chicken for dinner the other night and it was insanely delicious. I nommed it down and then took the left overs for work the next day. I'm trying to make more of an effort to bring food to work, rather than buying it. I also relaxed on Sunday night with a sheet mask. Keep an eye out because I have a post coming up about this one that I'm wearing - I love how the serum makes my skin feel and can't wait to share it with you!

One of the girls from work hurt her leg last week during her shift, and was unable to make it to my party. She dropped by on Monday with these choccy's and a card to thank me for being so understanding (silly because she was injured!!) and to thank S for covering her shift for her. So sweet, and I'm never one to turn down a Lindt ball!

As always, I'm enjoying snuggles with Rommy in the mornings before work. It's been so chilly the past few mornings, and starting my day with a cute kitty cat just makes me so happy :) Rommy is so curious...he was checking out all my gifts I brought home after my party on the weekend...I had to break the news to him that he's a cat, and doesn't drink champagne.

On Sunday we went out to yum cha at Canterbury Leagues...absolutely freakin' love this place. We've been here many times before for birthdays and family gatherings, and Sunday was a bit of a combination of the two. So much food, so much deliciousness, such good company to be in

Rommy's so funny with wrapping paper. He plays with it for hours, jumping between the paper and the green canvas bags we have out for him. I'm excited to share more about my birthday as the week continues (crazy it's the end of July already...). Would you be interested in a presents post? I was absolutely spoilt this year, with friends and family being incredibly generous, but would hate for anyone to think I was bragging or ungrateful?

What did you get up to this past week?

My Week in Pictures #33

This week was so boring and uneventful, that I don't have many photos to share at all. I've been working heaps, and when I'm not working I'm fixing up our house still, so none of that is really photograph-worthy.

J and I did head off to Canberra this past weekend though, to visit his parents. We were only there for two nights, so didn't get up to much.

On Saturday night we went out to dinner, to Pulp Kitchen (geddit!? Pulp Fiction...ha ha!), in Ainslie. The food was pretty incredible, and the dessert even better. I ordered the dark chocolate mousse and oh my...was it delicious. I never wanted that dessert to end. The menu is seasonal, and the wine list really extensive. The restaurant hasn't been opened for all that long and has already earned heaps of awards, and a chef's hat!

On Saturday we did a bit of shopping (stay tuned tomorrow for a haul post!) and hung out at home with the kitty cats...

Dixie is the craziest, prettiest cat I've ever met. Unfortunately the only photos I got of her were her sitting on top of the water heater!

Tosca on the other hand, loves her photograph being taken...

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny, wintery Canberra day. Unfortunately the weather turned, and on Sunday it was miserable and wet. We decided outside was too cold and just hung around inside instead.

What did you get up to this past week? Do you also have a cat who loves sitting at the door and/or windows?

My Week in Pictures #28

It's been a tough two weeks here. Uni has been absolutely mental ... not only was everything due at once, but what was due was Hard. With a capital 'H'. It's all over now though (for a few weeks) and I'm really looking forward to having the coming week off. I want to get re-focussed on my blog, and myself, and spend more time doing what I enjoy.

Here's what I've been up to lately...

J bought me home 'Settlers of Catan' after I finished a horrible take home exam last Wednesday. I've wanted this game for the better part of a year, and it was such a nice surprise to come home to this. J bought it because I was anticipating friends coming over on Friday night to celebrate the end of mid-terms. But unfortunately plans changed. We ended up inviting his mate G over for a roast dinner and playing. SO MUCH FUN. I'm now constantly inviting people over to play haha.

Also caught up with one of my friends who used to work with me over Max Brenner. So good seeing her after about a month and catching up over delicious tea and hot chocolates.
I'm reading a new book; I've been on the hunt for this one for about a year and finally saw it in my unishop last week so snagged it up. I'm about 6 chapters in and loving it.

Bus stop Vogue. Funny story; the same morning I was reading this, I stopped into Coles on my way to work to pick up some breakfast. I was paying at the self-help cashier and one of the Coles' employees came up and yelled at me for not paying for the magazine! I was like "uhm I brought this in with me?" She said "NO I saw you bring it up to the register, you have to pay for it!!" I won the fight though with a simple "well...this magazine doesn't have a barcode on it, so it's not from your store" and I walked out. I love when I get the better hand in an argument and walk away graciously winning.
Also bought myself some new boots for winter. Retail really is therapy.

On Thursday was J and my anniversary. We went out to a Turkish restaurant in Newtown. I loved the decor of the place, really authentic and pretty. We chose to sit at the small tables with cushions, which later revealed itself as being a mistake. It was kind of impossible to get our long legs comfortable and poor J had to put up with my squirming for most of dinner. J ordered the meatballs, and I ordered some lamb cutlets. Unfortunately the rice from J's dish took longer than they expected to cook, and my lamb ended up slightly cold and way overcooked, which was a shame. The waiter was really lovely though, and we got some free dip for the extensive wait. J tried 'sour cherry juice', and I had a much-needed glass of wine.

What's your favourite board game? What's your best "winning an argument graciously" story?

My Week in Pics #28

HAPPY EASTER!!

What did you all get up to over the long weekend? I dressed up like a bunny at work (much to all of the children's delight!). I've been a total stresshead the last two weeks, so I made a conscious effort to take some time out for myself.

Got my extended butterfly down. It's still kind of ugly, and my lines are pretty shocking. But you add pretty-ness later :)

In other exciting news, J and I got inspiration from My Kitchen Rules and made our own spelt pasta! Much easier on my tummy than normal pasta, and so much more tasty than completely gluten-free.

I was kinda surprised at how long the entire process took, but it really was a lot of fun. As you may notice from J putting faces in the dough... I was also really happy that it turned out so well for our first time!

1. Lots of tea drinking and candle basking was had over the past weekend.
2. My little brother flew down for his school break, and I'm really excited and happy he's back. We went out to dinner on Thursday night, and I just had to finish the week off with a cider.
3. I organised and sorted out all my make-up and beauty shiz. My entire work area is a lot cleaner now, meaning my head is less cluttered too.
4. Cutest tea tin from T2 - part of their children's range. Best thing is that it comes with tea inside it! This is a spearmint-y blend, but is a tisane so no caffeine!

What did you get up this week? How did you spend your Easter? Apart from being a bunny, all I got up to was studying...fun, hey!?
