Recently, in Pictures #57

How did it become October so quickly?

In less than 6 weeks I will have finished my final exams, and be finished with my Undergrad degrees. I've been precariously balancing studying for my undergrad with my postgrad diploma, as well as working long hours at two jobs. It will all be worth it when I have those three, very expensive, bits of paper though. Or so I tell myself.
Unwinding with frivolous reading and beautiful candles has been a necessity.

J's brother and sister-in-law stayed with us last weekend. We finally got around to checking out Cornersmith in Marrickville. J had the poached eggs, I had the meatloaf. All produce is locally sourced, which is awesome. So many noms.

Rommy, always sleeping on clean washing. We recently discovered he actually really likes hiding on top of the fridge, which is super naughty. The first time we caught him up there was hilarious - we were kind of in shock to see him up there, and he knew he was being naughty. As soon as we called out his name, he sheepishly jumped down and ran away to hide so he wouldn't get in trouble hahaha.

Finally getting the "hang" part of handstanding. I am perfectly fine freebalancing in front of a wall now. Take away that wall though, and it's like my hips completely forget how to go over my head.

The pole studio I attend has a show on next week at the Factory Theatre, called "Elements". I'm helping out on the night as a pole cleaner, so have been lucky enough to attend all the rehearsals. Oh my god, talk about inspiring. Watching all these incredible dancers has kicked my butt into gear, and I'm training lots and lots lately. Not for anything in particular, just to push my own strength.

In beauty news, I was lucky enough to attend Colour Theory's launch of their new skincare line, Skin Theory. The launch was on the brand's first birthday, so there were lots of fun things, like a make-up bar, nail bar and brow bar. I am won over by all their pretty spring nail polish colours - and $4 each!!
I also have so many new and exciting things to share on the blog in the upcoming months. New packages, new products, new looks...

The weather has been so warm and beautiful lately, I cannot even explain how happy the sun is making me (although I am apparently very deficient in Vit D according to my Dr so maybe that's why?) Spring is my favourite season, ever. And our mulberry tree started fruiting again - yum!

And the doggies played in the NRL Grand Final last night against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Ran into my little bro in the street so of course had to get a selfie with him, of us both wearing our jerseys.
I watched the game with my cousin at the Erko...which is in South Sydney land. Things got awkward being the only blue jersey in the pub... I felt very outnumbered haha.
We sadly lost, but I like the Rabbits so it's not all bad.

My Recent Life in Pictures #53

...It didn't feel appropriate to title this "my week in pictures", like I usually do since this stretches over more than the past week.

Just when we thought Winter wouldn't show her face, the rain comes bucketing down and the chill sets in. I'm writing this snuggled up really close to the convection heater we bought from Woolies...silly me didn't read the box properly. I was really disappointed to learn that it wasn't actually a fan heater.

Before the cold set in, I detoured from physio past the beach and had a little yoga session on the sand. I was photobombed by this little dog hahaha.

On the weekend I headed to Thai with my bestie, Meg. The satay chicken and massaman curry were just what I needed to warm me up. We then headed to the cinema and saw The Fault in Our Stars.

J and I had to make Rommy a new batch of cat food over the weekend. He had stealthily positioned himself underneath me the whole time I was bagging the mixture.

My good friend Lav had a housewarming last weekend, so I went along with Rai. We of course spent most of the night cuddling up to this cute bunny rabbit. I've also been hanging out with 'Friends' as a study break. Every couple of hours of continuous study wins me two-three episodes.

And in athletic adventures...practicing the hollowback at the gym. I'm getting more and more comfortable in this position, and can see slight improvements in my shoulder flexibility every time I do it.
I also spent a bit of time in pole balancing on top of one of my pole-mates! I love this fun acro move...it's so much fun whether you're on top balancing, or you're on the bottom as the base. Lots of giggling as we try to balance.

My exams officially start this week, so I'm gearing up my notes and tabbing my textbooks. I have lots of exciting posts coming up on the blog, but I may be a bit quiet over the next two weeks, so apologies in advance.
xx

My Week in Pictures #11

So this entry is a day late.
But technically, it's still Sunday somewhere in the world, right?

Unfortunately I didn't get many snaps of the past week gone by - it honestly was all a bit of a blur and I didn't even really get up to that much!

Rommy has fallen in love with the box that came with our rice cooker. We put his kitty blanket inside for him and he loves sitting in there while we watch TV. What is it with cats and boxes?

My sister turned 18! I seriously can't believe how old she is, and man does it make me feel old! We celebrated with lunch at my mums and then went to dinner with dad. I am privileged in that I shared her first legal drink with her! Here we are sipping down Midori Lemonades. I went up to order it for Ally, and when I realised they had no cider decided I'd have the same. So I ordered two and the bartender was like "...Midori Lemonade. We don't sell that I don't think" while she looks in the fridge behind her. I explained "it's basically a shot of Midori with lemonade..." (while pointing to the bottle of Midori on the shelf behind her) and she gave me this really confused look. She called over her manager and was like "Uhm..what was it again? Do we sell that?" He grabbed the Midori from the shelf and said "mix that with lemonade". I mean, really, it's not rocket science.

J was also very much a cutie and bought me a giant packet of nerds to get me through the mountain of uni work I have this week. How is everyone else feeling as the year draws to a close? Overwhelmed? Me too!

Sydney has been giving us some weird weather the past week. This was on Thursday, and today it was around the 27 Celsius mark! On the same day as this, I actually had a job interview in North Sydney. It was so cold and rainy and such a trek. But it was worth it because I got the job! Yay for employment!

And receiving letters from my penpal in England (Siobhan - check out her blog here) always brings a smile to my face! Something about the written word on paper just gets me all happy inside.

Have you ever had a strange reaction from a bartender when ordering a drink? When was the last time you received a hand-written letter in the mail?

My Week in Pictures #7

So as you may have noticed (or maybe not…) I was a bit absent this week, which you can largely attribute to the bitch of a Legal Theory exam I had on Thursday. As soon as it was over, we promptly celebrated with beers:

The weather in Sydney has been phenomenal this past week – exactly what I like about Spring. It’s  comfortably ‘warm’. Not too hot or cold…just right.

So I’ve spent a few of my breaks in between classes lying around in the sun on the duck pond lawn. Haven’t been brave enough to get out the bare legs yet – although that’s mostly because I don’t trust Cityrail’s air-conditioning policy.
Also – in exciting news, Cailin and I switched our usual coffees for an iced coffee on our coffee date this week! (how many times can you fit 'coffee' into a sentence?)

Earlier this week, Sophia at The Tattooed Tea Lady did a review of this book, and it sounded exactly like something I would enjoy. I spotted a copy on the shelves at the Unishop and picked it up. I devoured half of it that train ride home and I have to say – it is probably one of the funniest books I have ever read. Big call, but I was actually laughing out loud at some parts.

Style-wise, I was rocking the braid this week. I love the way the pink blends in with the knots. I also may have been wearing this hairstyle because of how less-than-clean my hair looked when it was down. Braids are amazing and I hereby vow to wear them more often.

In other style news – my boyfriend bought this belt featuring the characters from ‘Adventure Time’. Have you ever watched the show? The belt buckle is like a seat-belt which is hilarious.

My mum went to Port Douglas this week, so we got to cat-sit Snookie. Snookie is actually Rommy’s sister and although I thought this meant they would get along really well, this was not actually the case. They fought pretty badly on the first day, but after that they were best buds:

OOTD and FOTD - European Winters

Haven't done an outfit post in a while!!
This was from Wednesday, when it was FREEEEEEZING cold and I had to trek it down to Wollongong for a 2 hour Chinese exam (which I was 45 minutes late for - FUCK YOU shittyrail!!)

Please excuse the dodgy bathroom shots.
I tried to fix it and make it less obvious with my less-than-fantastic photo editing skills...

Wearing:
  • LEE jeans
  • ASOS Coat
  • Dotti jumper
  • Glassons skivvy (can't see)
  • Miss Shop beanie

Neutral-y make up.
Wearing Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Tint.

My hair is so ugly at this length. DESPERATE for a hair cut.
I'm so skint at the moment though, and so time-poor. I hate you uni :(

What are your tricks for staying warm in these freezing temps?

(nearly) Wordless Wednesday...

How crazy has the weather been lately?

1) view from the window next to my desk yesterday
2 & 3) crazy waves at beaches along the south coast witnessed from my train ride this morning. I've never seen the water get so white and foamy!
4) wind broke our window. DIY fix FTW.
5) ducks at uni loving the rain
6) keep on studyin'
