Review: The Face Shop, Foot Mask

Now, if I'm honest, I really don't appreciate my feet enough. I put them through a lot, and they never complain. So when I saw this mask at the Face Shop, I thought it would be good to pick it up and treat my tootsies.

All the instructions are in Korean, but they do provide some helpful pictures.

All of the liquid stays inside the mask, meaning you can pop on the "socks", and continue to walk around the house and do stuff without worrying about making a mess.
The mask has a bit of a "chemical" scent to it - not offensive, but not great either. However, after they were on my feet (which is obviously a fair way away from my nose) I hardly noticed the scent.
The moisturiser contained in the socks is quite a thin, watery consistency. I was a bit dubious at first - how could this be moisturising if it was so watery?

I left the mask on for about 15-20 minutes, and when I took them off, I just rubbed the excess in. My feet were left feeling really moisturised, and really really soft. My callouses were still present (Which for foot protection, is a good thing I guess), but my actual feet just felt so nice.

I can't remember how much the masks retail for, but they were pretty inexpensive, so I feel these are a good option for a cheap, effective at-home pampering session.

Get Your Feet Summer-Ready!

So, even though all the rain and ridiculous wind might have you thinking otherwise, it is technically Spring! YAY! My feet (like most people's) have spent all Winter hiding away in boots and thick woolly socks. Now that the weather is warming up, it's time to get them looking fineeee for Summer - or y'know, as fine as feet can look. Even if your feet come out of Winter looking not-so worse for wear, these products work really well as a foot pamper session too!

We've all heard of Scholl, and most of us have used their Party Feet when wearing heels. This is THE miracle product you need to get if you want beautiful feet. In a nutshell, the Dry Skin Recovery Cream from Scholl* softens and smooths dry skin.
Honestly though, I was pretty amazed when I used this for the first time - it removes hardened, dry skin and leaves your skin feeling really soft and smooth. Without any scrubbing, and without taking any time at all.
It feels like a moisturiser, there's no scent and it is absorbed into your skin really quickly without leaving any residue so you don't have the danger of slipping around after applying it. As amazing as it is, it didn't quite remove callouses on the first go, but they're definitely less "tough" with continued use.

For a little extra pamper session, this peppermint pumice foot scrub from the Body Shop is pretty good at removing dead skin. It contains volcanic rock, to really exfoliate and the peppermint smells really good and is really cooling. I love this after a long day working retail and being on my feet all day. I find this works best after my feet have been soaking, but it does leave my feet a little dry. I tend to follow up with a thick moisturiser, or the Scholl dry skin recovery cream.

For a little extra foot-loving, pick up one of these footsie rollers - It's like a little foam roller for your feet! I got mine from the Body Shop, and love keeping it under my desk to roll away any tension and tiredness. Bonus tip - use this before stretching out the back of your legs to get a little deeper in your stretch!

Review: Lush Volcano Foot Mask

Sometimes I feel a bit sorry for our feet. People hate them and are literally repulsed at the sight of them, and yet they do so much of the hard work for us... walking us around everywhere every day, treading on things, being shoved into smelly shoes, and sometimes...just sometimes they want a little loving too.

I picked up Lush's Volcano Foot Mask and have been using it once a week for a couple of months now.
The mask is quite a thick, pale-coloured clay gloop that you apply a thick layer of to your foot. Then you wrap your feet in plastic, leave for 10 minutes and rinse! Too easy.
I've been applying it before I shower, after I give my feet a little rinse, and then rinsing it off in the shower. If you plan on doing this too, I will warn that it does get pretty slippery with this stuff on your feet, with wet tiles and the like. So please, do be careful.

Like the clay you use on your face, the clay in this mask will help to draw out dirt, while anti-fungal essential oils keep your feet from getting gross. It's got papaya and lemon in it, to help with cleansing, tomatoes for deodorising (who knew!) and minty goodness.
My feet don't have any real health issues going on down there, but they get kinda calloused from wearing sandals and they do ache after standing on a hard floor for 9 hours (I hate you retail). Even so, I love the way this makes my feet feel.

The mask tingles when it's on your feet (which honestly I really like!), almost like a menthol heat rub for sore muscles. In fact, when I purchased it the sales assistant told me that sometimes he used it to rub into his calves after he'd been running long distances, to help soothe them. Interesting, but I'm not sure I can put something on my legs that has been on my feet.

Look, I'll be honest. It doesn't smell that great. If you can get past that though, you will love this. Especially if you are on your feet all day. It makes them feel great, it really does deodorise and refresh them, and there's a slight scrub when you wash it off (due to the pumice) so the dead skin comes with it.
The mask is made with fresh ingredients, so doesn't have a long shelf life. The good thing though is it is included in Lush's "Bring 5 clean pots back get a mask free" program, so that's nice!

Do you regularly apply foot masks?
