Gratuitous Spending

I'm so excited to be starting university again on Monday! I've been trying to get through the set readings for my Property Law class, and it is absolute killer! I've completely forgotten how to process big words in the 4 month holiday break! Hopefully it won't take me too long to get back into the swing of things.

Usually I spend a bit more on stationery ... I usually go all-out. But, I only spent $8 on the folder and book. I have so much paper and crap at home, that I think I should try using what I have before I keep buying more.
Plus, by not spending as much on things like stationery, I can spend more on pretty things like clothes.
Here are some of my latest purchases:

This amazing red vintage dress.

It has a high neckline,

and is slightly sheer at the bottom,
I'm in love with it.
I'm not actually too sure where I'd wear this ... maybe I could pull it off as an everyday dress. Especially in winter.
It is a little bit big for me, but that's okay because I might wear a skivvy or something under it when it gets cooler.

I also bought this great skirt:

which I'm actually in love with because it's so  flowy and the pleats are so perfect. The material isn't too hard to take care of. It's a little heavy, so again, perfect for the cooler months.

Today's purchases (along with school supplies) include:

This red and white dotted bodysuit from Myer. I love it - it'll look great worn under jeans, and a total steal at $20.

This vintage inspired summer dress. Complete steal at $20 - down half price.
This is a little big because it was the smallest size they had in stock, but it still fits okay and it adds to the summery-ness of it.

I'm in love with this! Last year I searched EVERYWHERE for one just like it and couldn't get it anywhereeeee. So glad I finally got it.
That photo isn't very revealing, but I did get my hair cut short again. So I'll need a cute knit beret to keep my head warm now. yay!

And lastly (my poor bank account!), I bought these amazing shorts from Bardot:

and the black singlet I'm wearing with it, and a white one (both from Kmart - $5!)

Anyway, it's all good because I won't be spending much for a while now that I'm back at uni.

I do have a few other online purchases that are yet to arrive in the mail ... totally excited to update you on those!

What I'm totally lusting over at the moment:

Cue Jacquard Dress $259.00

Cute kitty that J and I saw in the pet shop window. Oh my god I wanted to take him home so badly.
One day I will be able to own a little kitty.

Loving Winter.

Just thought I'd post with today's outfit.
I spent most of this morning in bed, playing Assassin's Creed 2, so for the most of today my outfit has been my Petey Alex pyjamas.

But for this afternoon, J and I had plans to rent out some movies and buy some stuff for homemade Sundaes. So I had to leave the house. It's rainy and cold, which I'm LOVING at the moment.
To show my enthusiasm for this London-esque weather I'm wearing:

  • Vintage cardigan / jumper
  • SES singlet
  • LEE jeans
  • Rubi wedges

Maltesers and Textbooks

My uni textbooks have all arrived in the mail ... yay.
As you can see in the above photo, I'm in for a fun few months. All up they cost me just over $600.
Good thing that now that I'll be needing to spend lots of time reading I won't have any money for going out anywhere fun. -_-

Although I don't believe in Valentines Day, J is still really cute, and bought me this pack of Maltesers, because they are my favourite chocolate and they came in this cute packet that's like a gift box.
He gave them to me yesterday (because of all the drama going on at my place and working and etc haven't had a chance to just hang out). Which was really cool becasue it coincided with our 22 month anniversary.
Cute.

Isn't he a cutiehead!?

Also, my favourite song at the moment is Spanish Sahara by the Foals.
When I saw them live, this song came on, and everyone danced and sung along, and the people on drugs looked like they were in love with the world, and it was all incredibly romantic.
Check it out.

Looking Up

After such an awful past couple of days, I am glad to report that the worst of it seems to be over.

I was quite upset yesterday after everything that had happened, and all the stress and drama for everyone involved, and I called J up and asked him to please come over and look after me, which he did in a heartbeat. It's amazing, when you have someone who will drop everything and run over just to be with you.
I wasn't really in the mood for talking, so he suggested we go watch a movie.
As it was late, there weren't even that many movies showing, and we settled for the 9pm viewing of Faster, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Billy Bob Thornton.
The casting alone should have been indicative of how awful this movie was going to be.
There was no saving points, it was just awful. I can't even critique it properly, it was basically a shitty version of Kill Bill. Characters were left undeveloped, some characters were randomly introduced for 5 minutes without proper explanation, and even the cinematography wasn't that great.
I urge you, steer clear of this one.

So I got home last night and had a letter on my bed from my roomie, and we had a chat, and it seems that for the moment, things are sorted out, or at least on their way to being sorted out.
Which is a huge relief.

Then J and I spent the next hour or two in bed, watching season 4 of Dexter while eating home-made nachos. yum.

I'm back to work today, and during some of the quiet moments, did have a quick browse at some of my regular blogs, and was ECSTATIC to learn that I'd won  a Whisk and Pin pancake mix pack inc syrup from Blithely Unaware!!

This is the greatest thing to happen in a while. I love whisk and pin, and I love pancakes, and I love winning things.
And, I NEVER win things, which is why this prize is so amazing! Yay!!

Thankyou so much again, to Blithely Unaware!

Today, my mood has finally risen back to the level of "normal"

Summer Lovin'

Yesterday, my cousin and I hung out around the city. We briefly looked in a few shops in Pitt Street mall and then went to the National Museum, to check out the animal photography exhibition and the dinosaurs (we are such children!) That night, my dad took my siblings and J and I out to dinner at Japanese Teppenyaki in Beverly Hills for my little brother's 14th birthday.
It's so hard to believe he's growing up so fast! I still imagine him as a little 8 year old!

So, we went hunting in One Teaspoon for these shorts that my cousin wanted, where I saw from a distance these AMAZINGLY WICKED pants hanging up on their sales rack. I grabbed a pair and tried them on and they fit me absolutely perfectly!

The pattern a bit closer up:

When I showed them to J his response was "skulls? Really? You're not 14 anymore hun". But I think that it makes them cooler because I'm NOT 14. Anyway, they are amazing and were $100 off and I love them!
It was so fun shopping in the One Teaspoon store. The bag that they gave me my pants in was really cute and trendy:

AND! They put my receipt in this ADORABLE little envelope:

I'm such a sucker for cute things like that.

We ran into some channel 7 newsreaders at Martin Place, and so naturally, got a photo with them:
That's me wearing my new black maxi dress!
It's so comfortable and fits so well. But it also looks glamorous and is fantastic for easy style.
J thought I had gotten all dressed up! "What, this old thing?"

Here are some shots from the museum:
Posing with the dinosaurs
Baby dinosaurs hatching (obviously not real)
And here are some photos from dinner:

If you've never been to Teppenyaki before, I cannot recommend it enough. It is such an experience. Your chef cooks your food in front of you, but does tricks with the food and the cutlery. It's interactive too. In the above picture, he was lining the eggs up ready to flick them at us so we could catch them in little bowls:

There's egg in my shirt!
There's this one part where he fries the egg, and cuts it into little pieces and flings it at you really fast! And you have to catch it in the bowls. Only my brother and I tried this. Safe to say I was better than him, although I was still pulling egg out of my shirt a few hours later!

Drawn with salt!
Just some happy snaps:

J and I
Dad and I.
Little sister and little brother.
Desserts:
J's pancakes with strawberries and ice-cream

My tempura ice-cream

J eating my ice cream
This photo is so funny.
J was showing my brother and sister how he could remove the metal stretchers (8mm) from his earlobes. They were disgusted at his earlobe looking all hole-y hah!

Festival Weather

Yesterday I went to LANEWAY with my gorgeous cousin, M.
It was so hot in the morning that this was the ensemble I chose to wear:

  • Jay Jays shorts
  • Straw hat
  • Best n Less t-shirt
  • Chuck Taylor Converse Hi-Tops

Of course, it was just our luck that by the time we actually got there (at around 4.30pm) that it was freezing cold. I couldn't complain though - such a welcome change from the heatwave!

The festival was at Sydney College of the Arts, in Rozelle. All the buildings that way are so beautiful. We took some photos with a camera that M had just bought that uses film and isn't digital (shock, horror!). So excited to see how they turned out!

I took a few photos with my phone:

These were taken while Foals were playing.
Amazing band.
Fantastic crowd, and generally really great vibe at the festival.
