Where I Fits I Sits! #1

I thought this would be a fun post to have up every now and again.
Rommy sits in the funniest places, and J and I get a good giggle at it. So we thought we'd take photos of him sitting in funny places and on strange objects and post about it so maybe you can get a giggle too.

Because really, who doesn't love a cute cat picture?

We left the picnic basket out in the kitchen after unpacking it. Little Rommy-kins was straight up on it, having a sit. He may have also had a nap or two (or three)

My Week in Pictures #34

It's been a busy week for me lately!

Today is my 21st birthday, which is INSANE. I also had my party on Saturday, which was a lot of fun. To add to the crazy, I've been working full time this week and next, and next week I go back to uni! I feel like I've hardly had a holiday to be honest!

I've got so many things planned for this little bloggy, and so many posts lined up, and just on the down low...maybe a giveaway too! I've just struggled a bit lately because I'm out of the house for most days about 11 hours. The sun sets before 5pm here, and I don't usually get home until at least 8pm. So stubborn me hates taking photographs in artificial light but I'm thinking I need to just get over that and get on with it. What do you think?

Mum came down from Queensland for my party and brought me and my sister these cute animal beanies.

They have little pockets for your hands too! Super cute!

J made me karage chicken for dinner the other night and it was insanely delicious. I nommed it down and then took the left overs for work the next day. I'm trying to make more of an effort to bring food to work, rather than buying it. I also relaxed on Sunday night with a sheet mask. Keep an eye out because I have a post coming up about this one that I'm wearing - I love how the serum makes my skin feel and can't wait to share it with you!

One of the girls from work hurt her leg last week during her shift, and was unable to make it to my party. She dropped by on Monday with these choccy's and a card to thank me for being so understanding (silly because she was injured!!) and to thank S for covering her shift for her. So sweet, and I'm never one to turn down a Lindt ball!

As always, I'm enjoying snuggles with Rommy in the mornings before work. It's been so chilly the past few mornings, and starting my day with a cute kitty cat just makes me so happy :) Rommy is so curious...he was checking out all my gifts I brought home after my party on the weekend...I had to break the news to him that he's a cat, and doesn't drink champagne.

On Sunday we went out to yum cha at Canterbury Leagues...absolutely freakin' love this place. We've been here many times before for birthdays and family gatherings, and Sunday was a bit of a combination of the two. So much food, so much deliciousness, such good company to be in

Rommy's so funny with wrapping paper. He plays with it for hours, jumping between the paper and the green canvas bags we have out for him. I'm excited to share more about my birthday as the week continues (crazy it's the end of July already...). Would you be interested in a presents post? I was absolutely spoilt this year, with friends and family being incredibly generous, but would hate for anyone to think I was bragging or ungrateful?

What did you get up to this past week?

My Week in Pictures #13

It's been a busy week. Found a copy of Metal Hammer in the Unishop for $3.01. I'm always one for a bargain so picked it up. Enjoying some iced coffees in the warmer weather with Cailin. I've been so busy with uni I'm eating dinner at my desk again which is something I try to avoid. J and I spend most of our time doing our own thing so almost every night (usually regardless of how busy I am) we eat dinner together. Unfortunately not this week. Also finished off my find-a-word puzzle book I bought for the long train rides to/from uni. Great timing, as the semester ends.
And chilling with my study buddy. Rommy is really adorable - we've trained him to sit on our shoulders, like a parrot. HAHA.

Do you like find-a-words? Or are you a Sudoku fiend? What crazy things have you trained your pets to do?

My Week in Pictures #6

Another week has already flown by and we're in SEPTEMBER.
Isn't that just ridiculous!?

I've been up to a fair bit this week...

J's parent's gave me some money for my birthday and I used it to purchase this Tony Bianco bag, which arrived in the mail this week:

Isn't it gorgeous? I'm SO impressed with the shipping - I ordered it on Wednesday afternoon and the postman brought it to me on Friday morning. For free shipping that is seriously impressive!

I also went out to lunch with my mum at Celini's on Friday.

Mum had the haloumi plate (on the left) and I got the eggs benedict (classic Michaela order - on the right). I had serious lunch envy after seeing hers arrive though - will definitely be ordering that one next time!

I also got some more birthday presents this week!
This is what Brad and Cailin got me:

An absolutely gorgeous Wedgwood tea and saucer set - with some of their fine tea thrown in!

I am so smitten with it - I think it's just adorable.

And Beth was super generous and got me:

Versace Bright Crystal Perfume and a year's Vogue subscription! I think magazine subscriptions are such a genius idea for gifts. As for the perfume - I adore this scent! It's a little bit florally but not overpoweing. It's quite feminine and I would say it's quiet a young scent but it is really delicious. I wore it the day she gave it to me - spritzed some on my wrist at lunch and it lasted well into the night so I'm really loving that.

Also thought I'd photograph this card she gave me as well - because it is hilarious:

I have also thoroughly been enjoying snuggles with Rommy-cat and eating semi-dried tomatoes with laughing cow cheese on crackers as an after dinner snack.

And lastly - today is Father's day! (In Australia anyway).

My daddy-o on the left over there.
I went around and visited my dad - I am so skint at the moment so got him a couple of bars of chocolate, some socks and a 5pack of Extra chewing gum (mainly to replace all the pieces I've eaten over the years). I also bought some ingredients and made mini pavlovas:

I think they turned out really well, and they were really delicious. Dad went out of his way though to tell me how ungrateful he was for my efforts, and left me feeling like I shouldn't have even bothered.

What did you get up to for Father's Day? What's your favourite thing to snack on?

What's In My Wallet..

Keeping up with the "What's in my... ?" theme, I've decided today to do a post on my wallet!

I first saw this on Sue's blog - over at Voyage Dans Le Temps. Last night, I had dinner with my good friend Meg, and she gave me my birthday present which she picked up from Vienna:

Isn't it beautiful? This girl knows me so well, because I adore quality leather, and this is stylish, as well as being really functional. Here's the back:

It also had this insert slipped inside - which can be used for holding cash, and can also be removed to use in smaller bags;

So let's take a peek at what's inside!

I did start off with putting my licence / ID in that window - but you could hardly see it anyway, and it would be a pain to take out. So I replaced it with a photo. Which I think is nicer anyway.

This is the back pocket - which is the perfect size for fitting notes as well as shrapnel.

And on to what I know you all really want to see: my card collection. I had to throw out / take out quite a lot of cards from my old wallet, as this one has fewer card slots. But once the leather stretches a bit I can probably slip some back in. Am I the only one who has "loyalty memberships" with almost every store? I mean, I even had one for Athlete's Foot...I think I've shopped there once, maybe twice, my whole life?

The standard: Priceline Card (probably the best loyalty program I'm subscribed to), Asthma card, Medicare, Centrelink, QBD and Dymocks, Boost, SMH Uni Pass (allows me to pick up the paper for free at uni!) and my uni ID.

So I know it looks like a bit of overkill with all those "Rush" cards - but 2 of them have free coffees on them. Yep, I hoard free coffee cards. I'm unbelievable like that. (Btw Rush is the best - if you're ever in Wollongong they come highly recommended by me!). My T2 membership card, Myer and my local library card.

Also pretty standard - Centrelink card, Monthly train pass, 10-use bus pass, blood donor card, ATM Card, gift card given to me last year that has like $3 left on it, my licence (Yes I'm on my Loser licence. Shuddup), and my health care card.

And just because we're friends I'll show you all the cards that I culled last night:

Some gems you may notice from that pile:
My brother's high school ID. I think I stole this once for blackmail? It's pretty cute though, and I will be keeping it, FlyBuys and Woolworth's Everyday rewards: I stopped using these so effing long ago, I don't know why I haven't just thrown these out; cupcake business cards? Because you never know; Galaxy World? No idea where these even came from, I don't think I've ever even stepped foot in a galaxy world.

And if you were wondering - yes all my personal information is edited out. Sorry for the shoddy editing, but you can never be too careful on the interwebs!

What's in your wallet? Do you excessively hoard cards too? Or are you more ruthless when shopkeepers ask you to sign up to their "loyalty" programs?

Sydney Comedy Festival - The Great Debate

On Friday night, J took me to go see the Great Comedy Debate at the Metro on George Street!

We got dinner at first, at Burgerlicious:
I had the bean nachos - which were delicious but soo filling!

J had this burger. Which tasted better than this picture makes it out to be.

Image of the stage.
Really, I feel pathetic even posting this because of how bad the quality is, but you can kind of make out the "Sydney Comedy Festival" sign, and the white chair that Claire Hooper sat on.

We had no idea who the comedians were when we booked it, and even though we constantly checked for updates, they weren't revealed to us until the night.
It was hosted by Claire Hooper (Good News Week, and a DJ on Mix 106.5).
The topic was that comedians should never censor themselves and nothing should be off limits for the sake of a good joke.

Arguing for was: Daniel Sloss, Jackie Loeb and Craig Hill.
Arguing against was: Tommy Dean, Chris Radburn and Rhys Nicholson.

It was overall a really good night.
It's good to devote time just to laughter. This was good, because even when the comedians were awful, it was till pretty easy to laugh at how horrible they were.
