Recently, in Pictures #57

How did it become October so quickly?

In less than 6 weeks I will have finished my final exams, and be finished with my Undergrad degrees. I've been precariously balancing studying for my undergrad with my postgrad diploma, as well as working long hours at two jobs. It will all be worth it when I have those three, very expensive, bits of paper though. Or so I tell myself.
Unwinding with frivolous reading and beautiful candles has been a necessity.

J's brother and sister-in-law stayed with us last weekend. We finally got around to checking out Cornersmith in Marrickville. J had the poached eggs, I had the meatloaf. All produce is locally sourced, which is awesome. So many noms.

Rommy, always sleeping on clean washing. We recently discovered he actually really likes hiding on top of the fridge, which is super naughty. The first time we caught him up there was hilarious - we were kind of in shock to see him up there, and he knew he was being naughty. As soon as we called out his name, he sheepishly jumped down and ran away to hide so he wouldn't get in trouble hahaha.

Finally getting the "hang" part of handstanding. I am perfectly fine freebalancing in front of a wall now. Take away that wall though, and it's like my hips completely forget how to go over my head.

The pole studio I attend has a show on next week at the Factory Theatre, called "Elements". I'm helping out on the night as a pole cleaner, so have been lucky enough to attend all the rehearsals. Oh my god, talk about inspiring. Watching all these incredible dancers has kicked my butt into gear, and I'm training lots and lots lately. Not for anything in particular, just to push my own strength.

In beauty news, I was lucky enough to attend Colour Theory's launch of their new skincare line, Skin Theory. The launch was on the brand's first birthday, so there were lots of fun things, like a make-up bar, nail bar and brow bar. I am won over by all their pretty spring nail polish colours - and $4 each!!
I also have so many new and exciting things to share on the blog in the upcoming months. New packages, new products, new looks...

The weather has been so warm and beautiful lately, I cannot even explain how happy the sun is making me (although I am apparently very deficient in Vit D according to my Dr so maybe that's why?) Spring is my favourite season, ever. And our mulberry tree started fruiting again - yum!

And the doggies played in the NRL Grand Final last night against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Ran into my little bro in the street so of course had to get a selfie with him, of us both wearing our jerseys.
I watched the game with my cousin at the Erko...which is in South Sydney land. Things got awkward being the only blue jersey in the pub... I felt very outnumbered haha.
We sadly lost, but I like the Rabbits so it's not all bad.

My Week in Pictures #52

A couple of months ago I bought a shirt from Portmans for work, and it fell apart after the second time I wore it. Finally got around to taking it back and getting a refund and picked up this cute top instead! Obsessed with the neon, and the front zip. I haven't been very active lately, due to a shoulder injury, so needed the new motivation to get back into the gym. There were a few bike rides during my time off though...to and from the physio.

After two weeks off from all physical activity, I eased into some yoga with some backbending practice. Super pleased with how my bridge is coming along!

Went out to dinner with dad and some family friends during the week. A glass of wine, and the most delicious slow-cooked pork neck, pork belly and vegetables is the best way to end the week.

J and I had some friends over last weekend. We cooked a roast, and provided entertainment in the form of Settlers of Catan. They very generously brought over this delicious Toblerone Cheesecake.

Obsessed with this Ciate nail polish, in Main Stage. As well as looking good, it lasted almost an entire week on my nails before chipping. The above photo was after four whole days of wear!!

It's the pointy end of the semester, which means lots of final assignments, and lots of studying before exams (which are in two weeks eep!) I've done a lot of work, but I feel like I have so much more to do. T2 tea keeping my belly warm, and making it that bit less horrible to study.

And our capsicums were finally ready for harvest! Did you know the difference between a green and a red capsicum is just how long it's been on the vine? I know right, blew my mind too!

My Week in Pictures #51

What a week it's been! I can't believe we're nearing the end of May already! I have a performance for pole dancing coming up next Friday, so have spent a lot more time than usual hanging around upside down. Unfortunately I think I've done something to my left shoulder. My dad's just torn his rotator cuff (an injury my right shoulder is well acquainted with), and I'm wondering if I'm just going out in sympathy pain or if I should book myself in for the physio...

Before it got too sore I was practicing some hollowback handstands, when BAM I felt my butt hit the wall! What a feeling! I've been training for this for months...tilting my hips ever so slightly turns a normal handstand into a massive back and shoulder stretch

In other flexibility news, my chest also hit the ground in this pose as well! Feeling loosey goose this week! It's the small gains like this that remind me to keep patient with stretching, because miracles can happen.

In Rommy-cat news, he is being as adorable as ever. Now that it's a bit cooler at nights, he's taken to sleeping in clean baskets of washing. I can't even get mad because it's too cute. We bought a new entryway table from k-mart, and he diligently helped me to put it together.  Knocking about the screws with his paw. So helpful.

It's not often I get political on this blog (although it has been known to happen), but far out did this government make a mess of the budget. I wasn't surprised that it was harsh, but I was shocked at just how harsh it is. I absolutely loathe the liberal party, and struggle to understand how anyone can justify literally taking money from the poor people to give to the rich. What a disgrace.

Accidentally found myself taking part in the protest #marchinmay on Sunday. I finished practicing my routine at the pole studio at about 2.15, and wandered down to Central only to find swarms of people protesting. I had my camera with me, and figured 'why the hell not'. Sure I have a politics assignment waiting for me at home, but this is politics in action! So I marched with them, from Central down to Broadway. It was a little overwhelming, being surrounded by so many passionate people. The realisation of just how horrible this government is made me want to burst into tears there and then. So I just kept marching.

And now it's Monday night. I imagine I'll spend the next few nights reliving this photo, as I struggle through my last ever politics assignment (I finish off my Arts degree this semester, and I am thrilled about it!), and a presentation for my summary justice class.
I have a pretty fun life.

My Week in Pictures #50

(Apologies in advance that these are all instagram photos)

I am counting down the days until my next pole performance, and trying to squeeze in as much practice as possible in between class and going to the gym. I've started putting together my routine, and practicing the moves I definitely want to include. I have 5 weeks until performance day, and a lot of practice to be done between now and then!

Wearing a lot of curls in my hair lately, courtesy of my hair curler. Watch this space, because I'll be having a review up later this week!

Picked up this crop on sale last week. I am in loveee with it and kind of sad I discovered it as we're heading into winter. For more details check out this post.

In probably the most exciting news this week, I got accepted into ANU's GDLP course. To be admitted as a lawyer in New South Wales, not only do you need to undertake a Bachelor of Laws, but you also need a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. This is the 'practical' aspect of the qualification, and I'm so freaking excited I get to complete mine whilst finishing off the rest of my BA / LLB. Which means (if all goes to plan) I will have completed all the necessary qualifications to be admitted as a lawyer by the end of this year.
Crazy!!!

Catching up on Game of Thrones on the way to a meeting after work on Tuesday. The hour long journey between Miranda and Bondi Junction is the perfect length for a GoT episode.

My Week in Pictures #49

I've spent a lot of the past week poring over text books, and rush-finishing assignments. Rommy has kept me company through it all. I've also started reading the Secret Garden. I loved this film when I was a kid, and it's great to now revisit it as an adult.

I took these photos on my walk over to my Dad's place. There's two different ways for me to get to his on foot, and both of them have pretty things to look at.

J found the laser pointer we bought in Bali, and Rommy had a great deal of fun with it. The multiple lights confused the hell out of him, and had us in hysterics.

I've been obsessed with this lip colour - Shameless from the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm range.

Wasn't sure if I could actually pull of purple, but I really love it. Must be my inner goth again.
